Yesterday, President Trump decided to disband his Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity. As you may know, LDF filed suit against the President and the Commission last summer on the grounds that it was formed to discriminate against African American and Latino voters. The Commission was also subject to seven other lawsuits challenging its lack of transparency and various violations of the Administrative Procedure Act.
This is a HUGE victory. It demonstrates that the litigation pressure we have been bringing to bear on this Administration’s anti-civil rights activities is working. Just last week, an article in The Hill quoted Commission leaders as saying that they have not been able to meet because they have been caught up responding to lawsuits. I am so proud of the work we put into this effort and our effective communications strategy to expose the threat of this Commission’s work.
